NGC 6946 The Fireworks Galaxy

This galaxy is nicknamed 'the Fireworks Galaxy' for its unusually frequent supernova explosions. Since 1917, ten supernova explosions have been observed in this galaxy. That is ten times more frequent than our Milky Way Galaxy, despite being only half of the size.

This galaxy is also full of weird stuff, the most interesting one being a 'failed supernova' - a massive star that should have become a supernova at the end of its life but somehow decided to skip the explosion and directly turn into a black hole.
