The Rosette Nebula (Caldwell 49)
This nebula presents a breathtaking view of the star-forming region in the Milky Way Galaxy. Several thousand stars are being born inside this stellar nursery.
Radiation from the stars energised the interstellar clouds, causing them to glow. This image used a false-colour mapping called ‘the Hubble Palette’, where different colours were used to differentiate the elements. In natural light, however, the rose-shaped nebula glows in charming red, making it one of the most romantic objects in our night sky.
